چکیده

We present a detailed examination of the features of the Ac-3 tive Region (AR) NOAA 10798. This AR generated coronal mass ejections 4 (CMEs) that caused a large geomagnetic storm on 24 August 2005 with the 5 minimum Dst index of −216 nT. We examined the evolution of the AR and 6 the features on/near the solar surface and in the interplanetary space. The 7 AR emerged in the middle of a small coronal hole, and formed a sea anemone 8 like configuration. Hα filaments were formed in the AR, which have south-9 ward axial field. Three M-class flares were generated, and the first two that 10

Are Homologous Flare–coronal Mass Ejection Events Triggered by Moving Magnetic Features?

Coronal mass ejections (CMEs) often present destabilization and eruption of a global (or large-scale) magnetic structure in the solar atmosphere. Furthermore, the Earth-directed CMEs are the primary driver of the disastrous space weather. Here we report on five homologous CMEs. They initiated in the early phase of five homologous X-class flares seen in NOAA Active Region 9236 on 2000 November 2...

Successive Solar Flares and Coronal Mass Ejections on 2005 September 13 from Noaa

We present a multiwavelength study of the 2005 September 13 eruption from NOAA 10808 that produced total four flares and two fast coronal mass ejections (CMEs) within ∼1.5 hours. Our primary attention is paid to the fact that these eruptions occurred in close succession in time, and that all of them were located along an S-shaped magnetic polarity inversion line (PIL) of the active region. In o...

Study of Magnetic Helicity in Solar Active Regions and Its Relationship with Solar Eruptions

STUDY OF MAGNETIC HELICITY IN SOLAR ACTIVE REGIONS AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH SOLAR ERUPTIONS by Sung-Hong Park It is generally believed that eruptive phenomena in the solar atmosphere such as solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs) occur in solar active regions with complex magnetic structures. The magnetic complexity is quantified in terms of twists, kinks, and interlinkages of magnetic...

Different Power-law Indices in the Frequency Distributions of Flares with and without Coronal Mass Ejections

We investigated the frequency distributions of flares with and without coronal mass ejections (CMEs) as a function of flare parameters (peak flux, fluence, and duration of soft X-ray flares). We used CMEs observed by the Large Angle and Spectrometric Coronagraph (LASCO) on board the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) mission and soft X-ray flares (C3.2 and above) observed by the GOES sat...

The Log-normal Distributions of Physical Quantities of Flare associated Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs), and Flare/CME Model of Gamma-ray Bursts

We investigated the statistical distributions of physical quantities of solar flares and associated coronal mass ejections (CMEs). We found that the distributions of the X-ray peak fluxes of CME-related flares, their time intervals, and speeds of associated CMEs are in good agreement with log-normal distributions. One possible interpretation of this is that only large energetic mass ejections c...
